Twenty-seven members and fourteen cars of the Lone Star Section caravanned 1,200 miles on Friday, October 13, 2023, to the southwest part of Texas. The first stop was Fort Stockton, Texas where the group had lunch at BienVenidos Mexican Restaurant. After lunch, the group went to The Grey Mule Saloon tasting room to try some local wine. Members of the Section were greeted by former mayor and members Chris and Tracy Alexander of Fort Stockton.

On Saturday, the members lined up for a drive to the McDonald Observatory in Fort Davis, Texas for viewing of the annular eclipse that traveled from Oregon to Texas, encircling the Moon. After the viewing of the eclipse members drove to Prada Marfa for a photo op. Prada Marfa is a site-specific, land art project by artists Elmgreen & Dragset constructed in 2005. Once the photos were taken the drive continued to Marfa, Texas for lunch at The Sentinel.

Sunday morning the members drove the winding roads to Big Bend National Park, stopping in Terlingua, Texas. The group had lunch at Chisos Mountain Lodge. The last stop of the day was the White Buffalo Bar, named one of the Best Hotel Bars by Texas Monthly Magazine.

Monday morning all the members returned to their homes on their own.
